We will develop a benefit fund co-designed by the community.

Community Benefit Fund

A reliable energy system is essential for all Victorians, and the Western Renewables Link (WRL) will play a critical role in securing our energy future. The communities that host this vital infrastructure are at the heart of making it possible.

The Western Renewables Link is committed to delivering positive, lasting outcomes for communities along the proposed route.

The Community Benefit Sharing Program recognises the vital role these communities play in enabling the project. In response to community feedback, the program has been expanded to include funding during the development phase. This means a range of initiatives will begin rolling out in 2025, ahead of planning approval.

If the project proceeds, additional funding will be made available and a separate WRL Community Benefit Fund will be implemented. The Community Benefit Fund will be co-designed with the community. AusNet will invite community input on potential benefit-sharing initiatives, providing landholders and residents with the opportunity to contribute ideas and help shape programs that reflect local needs and deliver lasting value to communities across the region.
