Community Engagement Report for June to December 2021 available on project website

An important part of the Western Victoria Transmission Network Project (WVTNP) is our ongoing engagement with the community. Community input is critical to all major projects to ensure that all issues are considered in the planning, approvals and design phases.

The Community Engagement Report for June to December 2021 covers the period from June – December 2021 and includes details of the engagement undertaken by our team including the series of webinars, online one-on-one sessions, and face-to-face sessions held in the later part of 2021.

The purpose of an EES is to ensure that major projects are designed, constructed and operated to minimise adverse environmental, social and cultural impacts.

Engagement so far has identified issues important to the community and has informed the technical studies that are the basis of the EES.

There will be more opportunities throughout 2022 for landholders, the community and stakeholders to provide feedback and contribute to WVTNP.

Keep an eye out for us over the coming months as we will be attending community events across the project area. Dates, times and locations will be communicated via our eUpdates, as well as through local newspapers.

The Community Engagement Summary for June to December 2021 can be viewed here.

About the project

The Western Victoria Transmission Network Project is a proposed new 190km high-voltage electricity transmission line that will carry renewable energy from Bulgana in western Victoria to Sydenham in Melbourne’s north-west.

The project is critical infrastructure required to unlock the renewable energy potential of western Victoria as a key Renewable Energy Zone and will help to deliver clean and affordable energy to Victorians.

Once complete, the additional transmission line capacity will carry enough energy to power more than 500,000 homes.
