Releasing more EES Preliminary Information Sheets

The EES process is administered by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning on behalf of Victoria’s Minister for Planning under the Environment Effects Act 1978.

The purpose of the EES is to ensure that the project is designed, constructed and operated to minimise adverse environmental and community impacts.

EES Preliminary Information Sheets

Understanding the existing conditions within the project area of interest is the first step towards developing the impact assessment reports which will be part of the EES.

We have produced four new EES Preliminary Information Sheets which summarise the existing conditions findings of the technical studies completed by independent specialists:

  • Aviation
  • Bushfire
  • Groundwater
  • Surface water.

View all EES Preliminary Information Sheets here. We will continue to release more EES Preliminary Information Sheets once available.

Our commitment to you:

AusNet Services is committed to consulting with landholders, communities and stakeholders. There will be many opportunities for you to provide further input as the EES process continues.

As part of the EES, we will continue with scientific and engineering investigations into a range of factors including visual impacts, farming practices and land use.

About the project

The WVTNP is planning a new 190km transmission line from Bulgana to Sydenham, which will put downward pressure on electricity costs while providing Victorian communities with access to renewable energy.

This project is needed to urgently reduce congestion on the existing transmission network and is estimated to increase the Renewable Energy Zone hosting capacity in Western Victoria significantly.

Once complete, the additional transmission line capacity will carry enough energy to power more than 500,000 homes.
