Western Renewables Link boosts leadership team

We have bolstered the project leadership team for the Western Renewables Link to further enhance consultation and engagement with the community for this critical renewable energy project.

We are very pleased to welcome Jeff Rigby as new Executive Project Sponsor. He has extensive experience and established community relationships in western Victoria from working on major critical infrastructure projects over almost two decades.

Mr Rigby has worked for Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water, including as Managing Director for nearly five years, and as Managing Director at Coliban Water, covering north-central Victoria, for more than seven years. More recently Mr Rigby was Managing Director at Western Water leading it through an amalgamation to become Greater Western Water.

Mr Rigby will be supported until the Environment Effects Statement (EES) submission later in the year by Dhammika Adihetty who will continue to lead AusNet's Distributed Energy group focused on developing and delivering new products and services.

Stephanie McGregor will continue as Executive Project Director (Delivery) while Ahmad Attar-Bashi has also been appointed Executive Project Director (Development).

We look forward to continued engagement with the community as the project progresses toward the submission of the EES at the end of the year.

About the project

The Western Renewables Link is a proposed new 190km high-voltage electricity transmission line that will carry renewable energy from Bulgana in Western Victoria to Sydenham in Melbourne’s north-west.

The project is critical infrastructure required to unlock the renewable energy potential of Western Victoria as a key Renewable Energy Zone and will help to deliver clean and affordable energy to Victorians.

Once complete, the additional transmission line capacity will carry enough energy to power more than 500,000 homes.
