Environment Effects Statement

What was the new Environment Effects Statement referral?

On 22 August 2023, the Minister for Planning confirmed that an Environment Effects Statement is required for the Western Renewables Link project based on the new project form. The new project form excludes the Sydenham Terminal Station Rebuild, as outlined in the referral (no. 2023R-04) and published to the Department of Transport and Planning website on 11 August 2023. The Western Renewables Link Environment Effects Statement is expected to be submitted to the Victorian Government in 2024.

We originally referred the project under the Environment Effects Act 1978 (Vic) in 2020 (Referral 2020-R11). At that time the Minister for Planning confirmed an Environment Effects Statement was required for the project and issued the scoping requirements for the Environment Effects Statement.
