Compensation

Will neighbours to the easement receive benefits?

Yes. Neighbours of properties along the proposed 190 km Western Renewables Link (WRL) route may be eligible for benefits through the Near Neighbour Benefit Program if the WRL project is approved. Aligned with the draft VicGrid policy consulted on in 2024, this program recognises the impact on nearby landholders and offers a one-off payment of $20,000 or $40,000 to those with a residence within up to one kilometre of the proposed easement. The final VicGrid policy is expected later in 2025.
